Terms
Terms of Use
Video to Notes is operated by the provider named in the Legal Notice (Impressum) ("we"). By using Video to Notes, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The Service
Video to Notes is a tool that takes a video you upload, extracts its audio in your browser, and uses AI to transcribe it and generate notes such as a summary, key points, and a timeline. A companion Chrome extension handles YouTube videos and longer content. The website also offers utility tools (such as a video converter, compressor, trimmer, and GIF maker) that process your files entirely in your browser without uploading them. Some features are available without an account; others require you to sign in, and some are offered as paid PRO hour packs (see Plans and Billing below). The service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old.
Accounts
You can use the core upload-to-notes tool without an account. Some features require you to sign in. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for activity that happens under your account. Usage limits may be applied per device or per account to keep the service available for everyone.
Plans
- Free: a no-cost tier. In the Chrome extension this includes a bring-your-own-key mode that uses your own Groq API key for transcription and notes. Usage limits may apply.
- Trial PRO: where offered, a one-time, time-limited free allowance of PRO features. It is not a paid subscription and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
- PRO: prepaid hour packs (for example 10, 50, or 100 hours) of hosted cloud transcription and notes, consumed as you transcribe. Your hours do not expire, and there is no subscription and no auto-renewal — you buy hours once and use them until they run out.
We may change, add, limit, or discontinue features, plans, or limits, in particular for legal, security, or technical reasons or as the product evolves. For hour packs you have already purchased, we will not materially reduce the core service (hosted transcription and notes). Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by such changes.
Purchases & Billing
Cloud PRO is sold as one-time, prepaid hour packs (for example 10, 50, or 100 hours) of hosted transcription and notes. There is no subscription and no auto-renewal: you pay once, at the price shown at checkout, and the hours are added to your balance. Hours are consumed as you transcribe, drawing down your oldest pack first.
Your hours do not expire — unused hours stay on your balance until you use them. Payments, invoicing, and applicable taxes (such as VAT) are handled by our payment provider and Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC), which is the seller of record for hour packs. Your purchase is also subject to Lemon Squeezy's own terms and privacy policy.
Refunds & Right of Withdrawal
- If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from the purchase of an hour pack.
- Hour packs are a digital service that can be used immediately. By starting to use the hours during the withdrawal period, you request that performance begin right away and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is lost once the pack has been fully performed (all its hours used). Where a pack has only been partly used during that period, any refund may be reduced in proportion to the hours already consumed.
- Beyond the statutory withdrawal right (and any other mandatory consumer rights), hours you have already consumed are non-refundable; unused hours may be refunded at our discretion or where required by law.
- Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country.
To request a refund or exercise your right of withdrawal, email support@video-to-notes.com with the email address used at checkout and your order or receipt number (shown in your Lemon Squeezy receipt). Eligible refunds are issued by Lemon Squeezy to your original payment method.
Acceptable Use
- do not use the service for unlawful purposes or to infringe others' rights
- do not attempt to overload, disrupt, scrape at scale, or circumvent usage limits or security controls
- only upload videos or audio you have the right to process
- respect the rights of content owners and the terms of the platforms the content comes from
Third-Party Content and Services
Video to Notes relies on third-party providers to deliver the service:
- Google Gemini transcribes audio and generates notes for all hosted processing — the website's transcription and notes tools, Trial PRO, and paid PRO hour packs alike.
- Groq is used for the extension's bring-your-own-key Free mode, with your own API key.
- Lemon Squeezy handles checkout, billing, and tax as our Merchant of Record.
Your use of these underlying services is subject to their own terms. Video to Notes is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or Groq, and you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to process the content you upload.
AI Output Disclaimer
AI-generated notes can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. Do not rely on the output for any important, legal, medical, financial, or safety-related decision without independently verifying it against the source video.
Intellectual Property
Video to Notes does not claim ownership of the videos you upload or the transcripts and notes generated from them. Generated notes are provided for your own use; you are responsible for how you use them and for any rights in the underlying content.
Availability & Warranty
We work to keep the service available, but as an online service it can be interrupted by maintenance, faults, outages of the third-party providers listed above, or events beyond our control. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we do not promise that a transcript or notes can be produced for every video. Where you have paid for the service, your statutory warranty rights for digital services apply; free features are provided without any warranty beyond what mandatory law provides.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and under any guarantee we have expressly given.
In cases of simple negligence, we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations — obligations whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely — and only up to the damage that is typical for this type of contract and foreseeable when the contract was made. Any further liability is excluded. This also applies in favour of our agents and subcontractors.
Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the service if you seriously or repeatedly violate these terms (in particular the Acceptable Use rules) or where required for legal or security reasons; where reasonable, we will warn you first. If we permanently discontinue the hosted PRO service, we will refund the value of your unused hours. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these terms when the product, our providers, or applicable law change. The version published on this page applies from the date shown above, and changes do not retroactively affect hour packs you have already purchased. If you continue to use the service after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply to that use.
Governing Law & Disputes
These terms are governed by German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you habitually reside.
We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle).
